What an amazing Easter weekend for our U11s in Blackpool who took home the Blackpool Cup Trophy on Sunday.
The boys showed tremendous resilience to bounce back after a real tough opening day to the competition on Saturday.
How fitting it was then on Easter Sunday that this great group of lads resurrected their trophy hopes by dusting themselves down and going out with a positive attitude that ensured win, lose or draw they would finish the day with smiles on their faces. And boy, how wide were those smiles come Sunday evening.
They started the knockout stages of the competition on Day 2 with a 4-0 win to progress to the semi-finals and then booked their place in the final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory. There was more penalty drama to follow in the final as a last-minute penalty save ensured a 2-1 victory over Athlone based Willow Celtic.
That rounded off a truly memorable weekend. Not only were the boys winners on the field but more importantly they showed real character and made great memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Well done lads, what a privilege it was for the parents, coaches and supporters to share in your wonderful achievement.
